Mr. Dan Price
Principal

Welcome to Pulaski Central School. This school is located at 500 Chandler St., Somerset, KY, and one of fifteen schools in the Pulaski County School District.   Pulaski Central was established in August 1995 to assist students in grades 6-12 who have experienced problems with truancy, lack of academic achievement, and/or general adjustment problems.

This initiative was anchored by the conviction that individuals, groups, and communities are inherently ingenious and resourceful, and endowed with the capacity to help students through collaboration and inventive action.  To accomplish this, we emphasize academics, clear expectations and regulations, student participation, and an array of resources such as library facilities, technology, vocational work opportunities, art, music, and physical education.

We use an integrated approach that addresses all aspects of a student’s academic and social developments.  Our instructional approach targets: (1) academics, (2) relationships within school and beyond, (3) students’ complex needs and experiences that impact their ability to learn, and (4) the relevance of school work to current interests and supportive conditions beyond school.   By our unique instructional approach, students take control over learning activities, decrease their dependence on teachers, and broaden their range of learning experiences.

Our staff concentrates on our students’ skills of reasoning, problem solving, and understanding to engage students in academic learning that has meaning and relevance to their lives inside and outside of school.   Our staff strives to develop innovative, creative, and self-reflective strategies that stimulate all students to learn while ensuring that the specific needs of all students are met.
